Fire alerts and local emergency notifications

NASA FIRMS fire-alert information displayed in our map and world wide emergency service providers.

The DMD2 app, the flagship navigation platform from DMD Navigation, has just taken a major step forward in rider safety by integrating a brand-new Fire Alert System and Emergency Notices feed.

Starting today, motorcyclists and adventure riders using DMD2 can receive real-time hazard alerts directly on their dashboard, ensuring faster response and safer journeys in the face of environmental threats.

The newly added Fire Alert System leverages NASA FIRMS satellite data and trusted public emergency APIs across Europe and beyond. This means DMD2 users can now be automatically notified of:

  • Active wildfire zones provided by NASA Firms

  • Emergency broadcasts from national weather and civil protection agencies

  • Localized hazard alerts, filtered to the rider’s exact location

  • Global relief alerts

The system was built to ensure that riders don’t just get country-wide warnings, but location-aware alerts tailored to where they are — whether exploring forest trails, mountain passes, or remote highways.

How It Works

The new feature runs silently in the background of the DMD2 app. It:

  1. Caches alerts and active fire data locally to save bandwidth and battery. 1000Km radius is stored.

  2. Processes up to 500Km radius to show map information and play alerts.

  3. Refreshes automatically if more than 30 minutes has passed since the last data fetch.

  4. Filters alerts by severity so users are notified only for important alerts.

  5. Displays active fire icons on the map and danger zones - user configurable.

  6. Provides visual and audio alerts if you are close to active fires or dangerous zones - user configurable.
